Simon takes a job as a cleaner in a factory after being made redundant as a university lecturer during Covid 19. Every morning the cleaning team are left motivational notes by their supervisor. Simon talks too much, he uses fancy words and he doesn’t fit the perceived stereotype of what a cleaner should be. People and especially management only see him as a cleaner, but when Simon appears in a national newspaper their views are challenged.
