Deirdre Shanahan

Deirdre Shanahan has an MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck, University of London. She grew up in England with Irish parents, spending parts of her childhood in Kerry, and has explored themes of displacement, identity and belonging in her writing. Before her first novel she published short stories in journals in the UK, Ireland and the USA.

Her debut novel Caravan of the Lost and Left Behind was published by Bluemoose Books in 2019. She has also won the Wasafiri New Writing Prize (2018), an Eric Gregory Award, and grants from Arts Council England among other recognition.
