Bluemoose Books is an independent UK publisher. We are always happy to hear from both new and established writers, and we are committed to publishing carefully crafted, distinctive fiction that engages and delights readers.

What We Publish

We publish adult literary fiction, including novels and short story collections. When we say “literary,” we mean works that are very carefully written, where form, language, and story all matter. This can include anything from the surreal to the realist, crime to speculative elements — what matters most is the quality of the writing.

Before submitting, please familiarise yourself with our list. Reading our books will help you understand the kind of work we publish and why your submission might be a good fit.

How to Submit

Please send the following in a single Word or PDF file via email to:
kevin@bluemoosebooks.com

Include:

• A covering letter introducing yourself and your book.

• The first three chapters of your manuscript.

• A synopsis of your book.

Please include your name and contact details in the email or file.

We welcome submissions from writers based anywhere in the world, whether agented or unagented.

Response and Process

If we are interested in your work, we will contact you within 24 weeks. If you do not hear from us within that time, please assume we will not be requesting the full manuscript for publication.

We are a small team and receive many submissions, so we cannot provide feedback on individual manuscripts. Even if you do not hear back, please do not be discouraged. We publish only a few titles each year and inevitably have to let excellent work go. Keep writing, submitting elsewhere, and reading widely.
