Clara Barley
Clara Barley is a writer, actor, and historian based in West Yorkshire. Writing under her real name, Angela Clare, she has authored several non-fiction books on historical subjects. Her debut novel, The Moss House, was published by Bluemoose Books in 2019. The novel, inspired by her work at Shibden Hall, explores the life of Anne Lister, a 19th-century diarist and landowner, and her relationship with Ann Walker.
In addition to her writing, Clara has contributed to the Gentleman Jack TV series, both behind the scenes and on camera. She has also written historical-based scripts for performance at various national museums and heritage sites. The Moss House was selected by New Writing North for their Read Regional 2020/21 campaign, highlighting its significance in regional literature.
